What happens if you have sex with someone much older than you?
That depends on how old you both are.
If you're under 16, the older person is breaking the law. The in the UK is 16, and an adult having sex with someone under 16 is committing a criminal offence. That's true even if you feel like you wanted it. The law is there because the age gap creates a that makes genuine harder.
If you're 16 or 17 and the older person is in a over you (like a teacher, coach, or care worker), that's also illegal, regardless of the age of consent.
If you're over 16 and the other person is just older with no position of authority over you, it's not illegal. But a big age gap can still create an uneven dynamic. Someone with much more life experience can have more influence over you than you realise. That doesn't automatically make it wrong, but it's worth being aware of.
If an older person is pursuing you and it doesn't feel right, trust that feeling. You can talk to someone you trust, or one of the services below.
