Can I get away with having sex with a teacher?
No. A sexual relationship between a teacher and a student is illegal in the UK, even if you're over 16.
The is 16, but there's an extra rule for people in positions of trust. Teachers, coaches, care workers, and similar adults are not allowed to have sexual contact with anyone under 18 who is in their care. That's the law, and it applies regardless of whether you wanted it to happen.
If a teacher has a sexual relationship with a student, the teacher is committing a crime. They could be prosecuted and would lose their job and their career.
The law isn't there to stop you having a good time. It's there because when someone has power over you, it's harder to be sure that what's happening is really your choice. That doesn't mean your feelings aren't real. It means the adult in the situation has a responsibility not to act on them.
If a teacher has made a move on you or is behaving in a way that feels wrong, tell someone. You can speak to another teacher, a parent, or one of the services below.
