Is consent always necessary?
Yes. is necessary every single time.
Consent means both people want to be doing what they're doing. It's not a one-off thing you agree to once and it lasts forever. It applies every time, with every person, and it can be withdrawn at any point. If someone changes their mind halfway through, you stop.
Consent isn't just the absence of a "no." Someone not saying anything, being asleep, being too drunk to speak, or going along with it because they feel pressured isn't consent.
It doesn't matter if you're in a relationship, if you've done it before, or if they said yes last time. Previous consent doesn't count as current consent.
If you're not sure whether someone wants to do something, ask them. If the answer isn't a clear yes, it's a no.
Yes. is always necessary. Every single time.
Consent means both people want to be doing what they are doing. It is not something you agree to once and it lasts forever. It has to happen every time.
If someone changes their mind halfway through, you stop. That is how consent works.
Someone not saying anything is not consent. Someone being asleep is not consent. Someone being too drunk to think clearly is not consent. Someone going along with it because they feel pressured is not consent.
It does not matter if you are in a relationship or if you have done it before. You still need consent every time.
If you are not sure whether someone wants to do something, ask them. If the answer is not a clear yes, it is a no.
