If both male and female are virgins can they still get STIs?

Sexual Health

In most cases, no. If neither of you has had any sexual contact with anyone else, there's no to pass between you.

STIs are transmitted from one person to another. They don't appear out of nowhere. If neither person has an infection, neither person can give one to the other.

There are a few exceptions though. can be passed through kissing if one of you has (cold sores are caused by the herpes virus). can sometimes be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact in the genital area without penetrative sex. And some infections like or can be passed from a mother to a baby during birth, which means someone could technically have an infection without ever having had sex.

But in the scenario you're describing, where two people who've never had any sexual contact have sex with each other for the first time, the risk of STIs is very low.
